SUFFOLK - Latilda Ward Dougherty, 82, died Sept. 14, 1997.
A native of Chowan County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late McCoy Sherald and Elizabeth Asbell Ward and the widow of Eugene Elliott (Preacher) Dougherty. Mrs. Dougherty was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, David Elliott Dougherty of Suffolk; a sister, Ellen W. Faircloth of Suffolk; two brothers, Joe Ray Ward of Suffolk and Sherald Kenneth Ward of Southern Shores; and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Great Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Steven F. Siegrist, with burial in Great Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
