• He served in the military as a 2nd Lieutenant Co. I, 41st Virginia Infantry Regiment on 15 Jul 1861 in Cypress Chapel, Nansemond County, Virginia. 3 Promoted to Full Captain on 6 Aug 1864. He took part in battles in Chancellorsville, 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Burgess Mills, Shady Grove, Appomattox Court House and others. • He was buried at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia in 1887.
